Milton, ON – Wed. Oct. 15, 2025
Milton Magic FC’s U15 Boys’ team became the first club representative to win a national championship Thanksgiving weekend after earning a 1-0 win over Quebec’s Saguenay Lac St-Jean in Monday’s final match in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
The Magic FC U15’s topped their group following impressive wins over Moncton Codiac and Saskatoon Alliance, outscoring their opponents 8-1, setting the standard as the most prolific of the twelve clubs in the group stage of the competition. The team continued its excellent form with a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Winnipeg 1v1 Futbol. That set up a semifinal encounter with Edmonton Northside United FC. The Milton squad shut out its Albertan opponent, earning a 3-0 victory and securing its place in the championship final.
“This is a truly historic moment for Milton Magic FC”,said Phil Ionadi, President, Milton Magic FC. “I could not be prouder of our players, coaches, staff, board of directors, and parents for their unwavering dedication, passion, and belief. To bring home the first National Championship in our club’s history is an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects years of hard work, teamwork, and commitment to excellence as we prepare to complete our club pathway with the application for OPDL and League 1 Ontario.
“Our U15 Boys have made history by becoming Canadian National Champions, and they have inspired every member of the Milton Magic community. This victory is a testament to what can be achieved when talent, effort, and HEART come together.”
The national title caps a remarkable season for the U15’s, who also won the Golden Horseshoe Soccer League title, the GHSL Cup and Ontario Cup in an undefeated 2025 outdoor season that also featured tournament victories at the Nike Blue Chip Showcase in Ohio and the Penn Fusion Showcase in the Greater Philadelphia area. The team was guided by Head Coach Andy Garcia, along with Assistant Coaches Joe Mattacchione and Loukas Papaconstantinou. Team Manager Meleese O’Connell and Director of Soccer David Benning were also fundamental in contributing to the side’s historical championship season.
Over and above the team’s success at the National Championships, there was a notable individual achievement as Magic FC’s Ethan Secondino was named the tournament’s MVP.
