PLAYER GOALS FOR THE PROGRAM
- Skill Development: JDP focuses on enhancing fundamental soccer skills to evade, escape and execute (Ball Mastery, Receiving, Passing, Dribbling and Striking a ball), through repetition laying a solid foundation for future personal growth.
- Game IQ: Emphasis on individual skills and a deeper understanding of the game, including basic team tactics, positioning, and cohesive team play. Making good decisions on and off the field propels an individual player.
- Mental Mindset, Confidence and Motivation: Players experience success and improvement, boosting confidence and fostering a positive attitude towards the game and teammates.
- Long-Term Player Development: Following principles of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) with physical development and age-appropriate training curriculum designed by the Technical Leadership.
- Enjoyment and Engagement: Creating positive and enjoyable life-long soccer experiences to ensure sustained engagement and motivation to stay involved in the sport for life.
As an annual program with more time on the ball, JDP at Milton Youth SC requires an increased level of commitment. Players will practice twice per week, with a game on the weekend (age-dependent). The top team in each age group with the most committed players will train 3x/week or more if the parents agree. The coaching staff will select various festivals and/or tournaments to attend which can be in Ontario. Only the U12 age group can attend events across the border into the USA. Detailed age-specific program outlines are available in the links below, explaining the benefits and components for each group.
