MILTON MAGIC FC WELCOMES DONEIL HENRY AS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR OF MALE PROGRAM
Former Major League Soccer and Canadian international defender Doneil Henry has today been appointed the new Male Program Technical Director for Milton Magic FC. The 32-year-old Henry joins the amateur club while retaining his roles as Sporting Director and co-owner of League1 Ontario pro-am outfit Simcoe County Rovers FC.
Henry, who recently retired from a 13-year professional playing career, made his MLS debut with Toronto FC in 2010, becoming the club’s first ever homegrown player. A three-time Canadian Championship winner with TFC, Henry would make 70 appearances across five seasons for the club, before joining West Ham in 2015. After spending two seasons on loan at Blackburn and one at Danish side AC Horsens, Henry terminated his contract with West Ham and returned to MLS with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018.
Following a brief spell in South Korea, Henry returned to MLS once again, suiting up for Los Angeles FC, Toronto FC a second time and Minnesota United, before finishing his career with Halifax Wanderers of the Canadian Premier League in 2023.
Internationally, after debuting for the Canadian Men’s National Team as a 19-year-old in 2012, Henry made 44 appearances for Canada and helped the team qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, missing out on the tournament, however, due to injury.
Henry will play a pivotal role in player development and coach education at Milton Magic FC. Working alongside the club’s Sporting Director David Benning and Cristina Romanelli, the Female Program Technical Director, Henry will share his wealth of experience mentoring the next generation of players, shaping the future of soccer in the community and contributing to its growth on the global stage.
“We are delighted to welcome Doneil to Milton Magic FC”,saidBenning. “Doneil’s exceptional career speaks volumes about his dedication, leadership and understanding of the game. His journey from academy prospect to National Team defender is a testament to his resilience and commitment – qualities we deeply value at Milton Magic FC.
“I am confident that Doneil’s experience and passion for player development will inspire our athletes and coaches alike, helping us build on our recent successes and elevate our program to new heights.”
