Introducing Overtime
As the Director of Soccer Operations, I have been asked if I would contribute to the Club’s monthly newsletter to the membership. I am a person of few words as I believe that actions speak louder than words. However, with the Club as big as it is and continuing to grow as the Town of Milton does, being available to meet and talk with each member about the vision of the Club would be an impossible task but one I am willing to do over time.
‘Overtime’ we will delve into various aspects of youth soccer, providing real insight into aspects such as moments that are both enjoyable and meaningful. I’m excited to share my thoughts, knowledge, and opinions about soccer, and I encourage you to engage and spark conversations about our shared passion for soccer either as a parent or as a player. This month let’s kick things off by letting you know what changes are taking place.
90 days into being part of the Milton family, I understand change is difficult for many as the status quo is much more comfortable and appealing. However, if we as a Club want to build a community through sport, be a home for all, and create lifelong soccer experiences we will remember and reminisce years from now then moving out of our comfort zone is the necessary change we need to make.
The most impactful change we have taken is the ability to communicate effectively. To provide the necessary information to be informative in a timely manner for our members. Although we are not close to being perfect, we have vastly improved our response times to emails, text messages and phone calls. We have hired two additional office staff to support our Office Manager with clear objectives and direction. Our social media presence will soon be evident as we bring all our teams together under one umbrella to promote our members and their contributions on and off the field. Promoting our programs on various media platforms in advance is one aspect but appreciating those involved is more important. In December we hope to release our new website which will be more mobile-friendly with accessibility to the latest news, and pertinent information more readily available allowing us to bring our members together. We will create tabs outlining all of the programs but with one button to register for any of them.
As we look forward to 2024, our focus will be on how we operate our recreational house league program and assist the enormous number of volunteers who make a difference in the lives of the children in our community. The recreational program is an integral part of the entire Club and requires its own operational team with a director whose mindset is recreational programming.
I look forward to when we can meet on the field but do encourage you to email me suggestions to discuss here on ‘Overtime’ to share our passion for soccer either as a parent or as a player.
