MILTON YOUTH SC BLUE DEFEAT EAST YORK ATLETICO 1-0 TO WIN THE 2023 BOYS U13 MILKUP ONTARIO CUP

U13 Boys took centre stage at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Sunday morning for the 2023 MilkUP Ontario Cup Finals. It was Milton Youth SC Blue vs East York Atletico in the championship match.

With the first whistle came one of the most exciting moments of the half. Before 5 seconds had passed on the clock, Milton’s Ladi Olumide got on the end of a long ball forward, dribble through three defenders, but East York’s, goalkeeper Jadyn Jaramillo was alert and readily diverted the attempt.

The remainder of the half saw each team take a handful of shots from both short and long ranges, but neither Milton nor East York could find the back of the net.

Milton had a close call in the 46th minute when Sebastian Mattacchione made a long-distance shot that came in high, but Jaramillo proved himself prepared once again, jumping high to deflect the ball off the crossbar and out.

In the 62nd minute Milton’s Ethan Secondino finally put his team on the scoreboard. He received a brilliant pass from Luca Cotrone, and quickly shot the ball into the bottom corner of East York’s net.

The final minutes of the game were extremely intense as East York pushed hard for the equalizer coming very close on a few occasions, but Milton was able to hold on for the victory.

Full-game stats showed Milton made 15 total attempts, 11 of which were on target. East York, on the other hand, had about half of that with 8 total shots and 7 on target.
