Competitive

Welcome to Milton Magic FC’s Competitive Program!

Where passion meets performance on the field! Our competitive soccer program is tailored for players aged U7 to U18 who are eager to take their soccer journey to the next level. This program offers a more challenging and focused environment, strongly emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and competitive play against neighbouring clubs within the Peel Halton Region.

In the Competitive Program, players benefit from the age-specific curriculum designed by the Club Technical Leadership team, not unlike your school system. Players need to learn through the stages of development to be competent and remain competitive to play against other like-minded young athletes.

Players wishing to join the competitive teams can do so any time during the season as long as there are roster openings with each age group. In most age groups we desire to have 3 to 4 competitive teams with different commitment levels as well as registration fees.

Licensed Coaching Staff:

The players benefit from having paid certified and licensed coaching staff dedicated to teaching the game vs the recreational volunteer coach. This dedicated staff bring a wealth of knowledge and playing experience, providing specialized training to enhance individual and team performance. With a focus on the technical, tactical, mental, and physical aspects of the game, our coaching staff is committed to nurturing talent and preparing players for success no matter what their goals are.

What ‘Competitive’ Means:

Elevated Skill Development:

The Competitive Program aims to elevate players’ skills to their fullest potential. With licensed coaching, players receive targeted training sessions designed to enhance their technical abilities, tactical understanding, and overall game intelligence.

Strategic Competition:

Teams in the Competitive Program engage in weekly competitive competitions, participating in the Peel Halton Soccer Leagues and tournaments as their performances improve. This competitive edge challenges players, fostering growth and resilience on and off the field.

Player Advancement Pathways:

Teams in the Competitive Program engage in weekly competitive competitions, participating in the Peel Halton Soccer Leagues and tournaments as their performances improve. This competitive edge challenges players, fostering growth and resilience on and off the field.

Team Building and Camaraderie:

While the focus is on competition, the Competitive Program also promotes teamwork and camaraderie. Many will attest to developing strong bonds through shared experiences, working together to achieve common goals, and building lifelong friendships that extend beyond the field.

Increased Commitment and Training:

Participation in the Competitive Program requires a higher level of commitment. Players can expect more frequent practices, additional training sessions, and a dedication to honing their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches. (Two to three times a week with each session being up to 90 minutes in duration.) Players will get to travel to festivals and tournaments and build lifelong soccer experiences.

Positive Coaching Culture:

Similar to our Recreational Program, the Competitive Program emphasizes a positive coaching culture. Coaches prioritize positive reinforcement, encouragement, and sportsmanship, instilling not only soccer skills but also values of respect and responsibility. Coaches are taught not to joystick the movement from the sidelines shouting individual instructions but to remain calm and allow the players to learn from actually playing the game while all of the teaching is done at training sessions.

Personal Growth:

The competitive coaches are an extension of the families of their team. As much as we want to develop terrific talent on the field, we also want to develop character off the field to have each one be a positive role model in our community. We have an acronym for the values we teach within our curriculum. H.E.A.R.T. – Humble, Effort, Accountable, Respect & Trust

What Parents Can Expect:

Enhanced Player Development:

Parents can anticipate seeing their child’s soccer skills and understanding of the game elevate through the focused training provided in the Competitive Program.

Structured Communication:

Regular communication from coaches and the club will keep parents informed about schedules, events, and any updates related to the Competitive Program. Parents will receive feedback on their child’s progress in written form and verbally in a 1 on 1 environment.

Increased Involvement:

Parents are encouraged to actively support their child’s soccer journey, whether through attending games, cheering from the sidelines, or participating in club events. Your involvement contributes significantly to the success of our competitive teams.
