Coaching Development


Milton Youth Soccer Club provides all MYSC coaches with opportunity of further learning.  During the spring, MYSC offers OSA Coaching courses from Level 1 to Level 3.  Space is usually limited so sign up as soon as possible.  If you are interested in these courses or would like more information, please contact our Head Coach at mailto:headcoach@miltonmagic.com?subject=OSA Coaching Courses

As well, MYSC will also be hosting Coaching Development Clinics throughout the year.  Experienced coaches/trainers are there to provide learning opportunties for new and seasoned coaches.

For those who are interested in coaching a Rep/Select/All-Star team, you must meet the minimum OSA Level requirement as outlined by the Club.  (Click here for Club Policies)


MYSC Coaching Clinic - Outdoor House League Coaches

Session:  Sat June 5, 2010
Time:  1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Location:  E.C. Drury (on field)
 
Competitive coaches from the club will be providing insight on proper technical and tactical perspectives to coaching. Joining us will be technical staff as well as members of Milltown F.C.

Don't forget to bring your cleats!

MYSC Coaching Clinic - Competitive Coaches

Session:  Sat June 5, 2010
Time:  10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Location:  E.C. Drury (on field)


* An agenda for the meeting will be distributed as we approach the date
* Coaching clinics will be completely interactive

Please ensure that at least one member of your coaching staff is in attendance.




OSA Community Coach Children's Certificate (Level 1)

Course Date: Sat April 10th, 2010
Course Time:
8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Course Location:
Bishop Reding High School
Course Duration:  9 hours
Course Prerequisite: None

This course is designed for coaches who are working with 6-10 year olds.  Children in this age group undergo different stages of development.  While the 6 to 8 year olds may have short attention spans and coordination difficulties, the 8 to 10 year olds have increased attention span and improved coordination skills.  Each of these two groups may have slightly different training needs. 

This course is a combination of theoretical (classroom) and practical (field/gym) work that provides coaches with the ability to customize their practice training sessions for children of this age.

Attendance for the entire session is necessary in order to receive the certificate.



OSA Community Coach Youth's Certificate (Level 2)

Course Date: Sat April 17th, 2010
Course Time:
8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Course Location: Bishop Reding High School
Course Duration: 9 hours
Course Prerequisite:  OSA Community Coach Children's Certificate

This course is designed for coaches who are working with 10-14 years olds.  This is considered the Golden Age of Learning whereby the potential to learn new skills is considerable.  This is the ideal age to teach soccer skills and technique as well as basic tactical behaviours.   

This course is a combination of theoretical (classroom) and practical (field/gym) work that provides coaches with some insight on incorporating basic tactical skills into practice training sessions.

Attendance for the entire session is necessary in order to receive the certificate.  Please bring your OSA Community Coach Children's Certificate (Level 1) when you attend this course.



OSA Community Coach Senior's Certificate (Level 3) 

Course Dates:  Sat April 24th & Sun Apr 25th, 2010
Course Time:  8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Course Location:
Bishop Reding High School
Course Duration: 18 hours
Course Prerequisite:  OSA Community Coach Youth's Certificate

This course is designed for coaches who are working with 14 years old and older.  This is the age where there is the onset of physical and mental maturity leading to adulthood.  An age where physical development alongside critical and logical thinking provides a framework for more advanced plays.

This course is a combination of theoretical (classroom) and practical (field/gym) work that provides coaches with further tactical and conditioning skills to incorporate into practice training sessions.

Attendance for the entire session is necessary in order to receive the certificate.  Please bring your OSA Community Coach Children's Certificate (Level 1) and OSA Community Coach Youth's Certificate (Level 2) when you attend this course.
